REC group established a new production facility in Singapore, and DIS was involved to manage the final tests of the machines for the solar factory.
When REC’s project group had completed the initial tests of the first two production plants and trained DIS’ consultants in the test methods, they moved to Singapore to manage the start-up of the factory. From this point, DIS took over the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), which was conducted at the different machine suppliers in Germany and the USA.
DIS’ consultants tested the machines’ safety, functionality and overall performance, including the mechanical, electrical, and software based equipment. As the machines were approved, they were transported to the factory in Singapore. DIS’ consultants collaborated with REC’s Operations in Singapore throughout the process and were later trained on using the equipment.
Rob Steeman, VP Technology at REC Cells Pre Ltd (Singapore), on the collaboration with DIS: "The DIS engineers clearly contributed to the success of the Singapore project. Due to their professional attitude and the excellent quality of their work, it was possible for us to move our own engineers to Singapore with the first machines."
The Singapore factory is based on multicrystalline technology and produces wafers, solar cells and modules. Renewable Energy Corporation (REC) is a leading vertically integrated solar energy company. REC produces polysilicon, wafers, cells and modules for the solar industry, and silicon materials for the electronic industry. REC also engages in project development in selected PV segments.
